InnerOS for coaches: a place for clients to practice between sessions

InnerOS is a private app where a client writes what is on their mind and hears their parts answer one at a time. Some coaches may suggest it as a practice between sessions. It does not replace you, it does not coach, and it is not therapy. Try it yourself first, and then you will know who it might suit.

Based on Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work and Carl Jung's archetypes.

Does any of this sound like you?

Maybe a client leaves a session with a clear insight, and by next week it has gone quiet.

Maybe clients write to you between sessions, and you want to help while keeping your boundaries.

Maybe you wish they had a calm way to keep practising what you taught.

Maybe not every client can meet as often as the work would like.

What may be going on inside

If you work with parts, IFS or Jungian ideas, the words in InnerOS may sound familiar: parts, protectors, Self, archetypes. A client can practise naming the voices, hearing each one, and noticing when a calm part leads.

The work stays yours. InnerOS is only a quiet room for practice.

In IFS, these voices are called parts. If those words are new, you do not need them to start.

How a session works

Three small steps. You can stop at any time.

  1. You write what is on your mind. A few lines is enough.
  2. A part answers. It speaks in its own voice, and you write back in your own words. There is no score and no wrong answer.
  3. It closes with a reflection. InnerOS says back what came up, so you leave with one calm thought to carry.

Before the next meeting, a client might bring, "I keep saying yes when I mean no." A part answers. They write back. They leave with a reflection to bring to you.

What a part might say

These show the spirit of a part's words, not the app's exact lines. A part speaks as I or we, and never tells you what to do.

  1. I am the part that says yes before I think. I am afraid of letting people down. What happens if I wait?
  2. We are the part that remembers what we learned last week. We lose it by Friday. What helps us hold on?
  3. I am the part that wants to do this perfectly. I am tired of being graded. What if I only listened?

Coaches: common questions

Will InnerOS replace me as a coach?

No. InnerOS is not a coach. It is a place to practise listening to your own parts. The framework, the goals and the relationship stay with you.

Can I use it with my own framework?

InnerOS is built on IFS and Jungian archetypes. If you work with parts or archetypes, the language may feel familiar. If you are a practitioner and want a page for your own clients, see our page for therapists.

How do I suggest it to clients?

Try it yourself first. There is a 14-day free trial. When you see how a session feels, you will know which clients it may suit. Some coaches may suggest bringing a topic to InnerOS before the next meeting.

Is a client's journal private?

A client's sessions belong to their own account. Your journal is encrypted with a key that belongs to you alone (AES-256). The keys are kept on our servers, so it is not end-to-end encrypted.

InnerOS is not therapy

InnerOS is a place to listen to yourself. It is not therapy and it cannot treat or diagnose anything. It is not for a crisis. If you are in crisis or in danger, please reach out to a crisis line or a licensed professional right now.

One real session will tell you more than a page can.
